The Road to Another Swedish Poker Championship

There is something special about having a goal to work toward. Right now, all my focus is on the next Swedish Poker Championship, a tournament that has meant a great deal to me over the years.

I have had the privilege of winning five Swedish Championship titles, both online, live and at Casino Cosmopol. The victories came in 2015, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and each one has its own story. Being inducted into the Swedish Poker Hall of Fame in 2025 is also something I am incredibly proud of.

At the same time, I know that previous results do not mean very much once a new tournament begins. Every Swedish Poker Championship is a new challenge, with new opponents and new decisions. That is also what keeps me motivated. I want to continue developing and see how far I can take my game.

Ahead of a championship, I spend a lot of time preparing. I review hands, think through situations where I could have played differently and try to identify small details that can make me a little better. Often, it is the small adjustments that make the biggest difference over time.

But preparation is not only about poker. The mental side is just as important. Good sleep, patience and the ability to stay calm when things are not going your way are often decisive during long tournament days. I try to focus on the next decision rather than the result. You cannot control the cards, but you can control how you play them.

Since I started selling action, another aspect has also become important. I no longer have to carry the entire financial risk myself, which allows me to focus more on the game and less on the buy-in.

At the same time, that comes with responsibility. When someone chooses to back me, I want to be as well prepared as possible. It gives me extra motivation to put in the work properly and give myself the best possible chance to perform.

I am very proud of my five Swedish Championship titles. But when the next Swedish Poker Championship begins, it will not matter what I have achieved before. Then it will all come down to making good decisions, one hand at a time, and giving myself the chance to compete for another title.
